Disneyland: Totally Kid Perfect!
Disneyland was the first stop for us this Spring Break. We took a road trip down the captivating California coast. Was it everything Kai was dreaming of? Yes. He had a great time. One of the best parts (though eventually our legs grew tired), was just walking around the park and seeing the spectacle before us. We'll start with the sad news. It's a Small World was not running during our visit. I only know this is sad because I had been to Disneyland one time before, and it was by far my favorite ride. Be prepared if you have your heart set on a particular ride; they sometimes need maintenance. What did Kai like most? Becoming a Jedi. Yep. Kai was picked, as one of thirty lucky participants, to become a Jedi. Very Exciting! And, the reason we came home with a lightsaber. I think our Halloween theme is coming together early this year for a change.
This was super fun and exciting to watch. They say Disneyland is a place where dreams come true. And, this is where it happened for Kai. As I watched the final Jedi ceremony, I had a taste of how I might feel at Kai's graduation ceremony (okay, hopefully the relief that he made it to the stage won't be involved).

We very much enjoyed Tomorrowland, especially Autopia, where Kai got to take the wheel as driver, and I wasn't even scared (the car is on tracks). Also, there's a video game focused area that I eventually had to drag Kai away from. We didn't go on many of the rides because Kai wasn't interested. Since going was totally for him, I let him decide. After hours of fun, we took a calming rest at the petting zoo. It didn't feel very Disney, but I did enjoy the calming influence it had on Kai. Great if you have small children.

Speaking of small children, don't plan to stay the entire day if you have them. They get tired by the whole experience. If you're staying in a nearby hotel, you could take a break in the middle of the day to nap and rejuvenate. Otherwise, plan to leave early. I let Kai decide. He was ready to leave around 5 p.m.; we arrived at 8 a.m.. How to make your experience even better than ours: 1. Bring your own snacks and water in a backpack. The food and drink are overpriced, so save dollars with snacks in your pack. I didn't think it would be allowed, but as we entered the park, lots of folks proved me wrong. 2. Set spending limits for your kids. I let Kai take his own money (he cashed out his piggy bank) to make my job of limiting spending a lot easier! 3. Figure out the Fast Pass system early on. It saves so much time by cutting your wait in line. We hope you have as much fun as we did.
We'd love to hear what you liked best!
